Dr Nicole Smith received her new title from GP training provider, GP Synergy, at a ceremony at Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
She initially came to Dubbo as a medical student to study at the University of Sydney's School of Rural Health, eventually returning for GP training.
Dr Smith, set to complete her training next year, has worked at Dubbo Family Doctors and Dubbo Aboriginal Medical Service.

"I would definitely recommend training in a rural area, being rural you get to be a part of the local community in a way that's not as easy to do in a big city like Sydney," she said.
"And the lifestyle is definitely better."
Dr Smith intends to remain in Western NSW after completing her training.
The Western NSW Staff Member of the Year went to Dubbo's Rachel Harris who is the senior education coordinator for Western NSW, working out of the GP Synergy office in Dubbo.
GP Synergy chief executive officer John Oldfield said: "With more than 100 registrars currently training in accredited general practices across the Western NSW region, Dr Smith's achievement is certainly something to be proud of."
