Tomlinson is an expert in his field, having been a Commissaire at Olympic and Commonwealth Games events along with officiating at the World Tour event, the Tour Down Under, along with many international tours. Tomlinson referenced International Standards to ensure compliance.
Club coaches Gus Dawson and Vaughn Eather put riders through their paces, attempting to duplicate race conditions.
The new velodrome is a 400m oval track. Its embankments are angled at 14 degrees, allowing the riders to push hard into them without being thrown from the track.
The longer 400m track is specifically suitable to Dubbo to continue the encouragement of the junior riders. It will also allow the Dubbo Cycle Club to continue to host the NSW Junior Titles each year.
The criterium track is a one kilometre circuit that will allow for fast criterium racing. It will just as importantly allow for novice riders to gain skills and confidence on a road circuit away from traffic.
Dubbos State and National cyclists including Danny Barber, Dylan Eather and Haylee Fuller put the track through its paces under Peter Tomlinson's watchful eye.
Tomlinson will prepare a report to go to Cycling Australia on the ability of the track to host National Level events. Tomlinson was looking at the ability of riders to go at speeds up to 75km an hour on the track.
Australian under 17 Time Trial Champion, Dylan Eather heads to Victoria this weekend o take on the Victorian Road Series Tour of Bright.
The three Stage tour will feature his pet Time Trial event as the first stage before heading into the Victorian Alps.
The two road stages incorporate nearly 3000 metres of climbing and will certainly test all riders.
Local racing continues at Victoria Park on Tuesday night.
Racing on the night will feature Club Champion scratch racing, along with the ever popular handicap events.
Strong numbers of juniors still on the training wheels are riding each Tuesday and new participants are always welcome.
