Big-hitting all-rounder Patterson, 23, is now living and working in Bathurst after making the switch to the Campbelltown-Camden Cricket Club in the winter.
He is already making an impact, dismissing well known players such as former Test opener Ed Cowan and current NSW player Arjun Nair.
"Campbelltown has a country dynamic to it while still having the resources other clubs have, which made the transition easier" Patterson said about his move to his new club.
Patterson is not the only Dubbo product to make the move to Sydney.
Former Souths all-rounder Henry Railz is in his second season with defending premiers Penrith and took his first top grade five-wicket haul against fellow Dubbo product Tim Armstrong's Eastern Suburbs side last weekend.
Bogan Gate's Corey McDean has also made the move to Sydney and is currently playing for Western Suburbs. RSL-Colts spearhead Tom Atlee is attempting to break into the Blacktown's first grade side after a solid opening few rounds with the club.
"It is great to see Dubbo producing cricketers that want to come to Sydney and improve, hopefully some of us one day can come back and give back hopefully to a strong competition," Patterson said.
"The ultimate goal for me is to play T20 cricket, whether it is Big Bash or around the globe, that's what I want to do."
Patterson will be back out west next week and will team up with Newtown's Doug Potter in the Sydney Thunder Indigenous side, which is scheduled to play three matches against the Hobart Hurricanes Indigenous team at Orange's Wade Park.
