Dubbo Station officer Mick Medlin said crews from Dubbo and Delroy fire stations arrived on site to find a single level older house with an advanced fire on its front balcony.
"We arrived to several explosions occurring," Mr Medlin said.
"Firefighters contained the fire to the front portion of the house although significant damage was caused to that portion of the property.
"Three people showed signs of smoke inhalation and were assessed by ambulance officers on site.
"Thankfully, all persons and their pets were declared to be okay, and no one was transported to hospital."
Mr Medlin said firefighters as residents to make sure they have working smoke alarms and home fire escape plan.
"Given the current environment and conditions we would hope that people in rural areas have a bushfire escape plan and that homes were kept in an orderly condition to prevent fires escalating," he said.
