A senior police officer has been accused of committing three assault offences while on duty.

Police said the assault charges relate to an incident which occurred while the now senior constable was on duty in December 2018.
On Wednesday police issued the 38-year-old-man with a future court attendance notice for two counts of common assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The officer is suspended but still getting paid.
He is due to appear in court in January 2020.
