He made the promise at the hospital on Wednesday after Sydney-based Lipman Pty Ltd was named the successful tenderer for the construction of the Western Cancer Centre, to be funded with $25 million from the federal government and $10 million from the state government.

Lipman is currently building a new renal unit in the hospital's Talbragar Building.

The opening of the new unit in mid-December will lead to the demolition of the existing renal unit where the cancer centre will be built.

Mr Hazzard said the cancer centre would be "up and running hopefully by 2021/2022".

Asked about future funding for parts of the hospital not yet earmarked for redevelopment including the paediatric and medical wards, the health minister talked about stage four redevelopment and then insisted "there's always more to do right across NSW and right across Australia in health".

"But at the moment the work that's being done will take us through to stage four and that's another couple of years away but after that of course we'll be looking at what else needs to be done," he said.

The hospital's redevelopment to date has cost more than $241 million with the state government funding all but $7.1 million provided by the federal government.

Treasurer Dominic Perrottet joined Mr Hazzard in Dubbo to release the Regional Economic Impacts of Public Hospital Investment by the Regional Australia Institute and NSW Health Infrastructure.

The report shows a 15 per cent jump in healthcare jobs in Dubbo from 2011 to 2016 and a big boost to construction jobs benefiting "accommodation, travel, food and transport" sectors.
