About $13,000 was donated to the Pink Ladies. It was used for a medication trolley, two IV poles and two recliner chairs for the paediatric ward. The best part? One of the chairs is even in their signature colour.

While $11,000 was spent on the paediatric ward, part of the donation will also go towards a lounge chair in theatre, which is expected to be used primarily for people whose partners are having a caesarean section.

Pink Ladies volunteer Jenny Kelly said it was "fantastic" to have received the money.

When they first heard about the donation, Ms Kelly said they only had a week to put it to use. While she thought it would be impossible, she praised Rachel Edwards and Kay Simpson who "flew into action" and were able to quickly get quotes for what the hospital wanted.

The bulk of the money went to the medication trolley, which was a big need for the department.

The colourful chairs will be used by breastfeeding mothers and those looking for somewhere they can hold their babies despite having various tubes attached.

Ms Edwards said someone had already slept in one of the recliners, which proved how comfortable they were.

Ms Kelly said the Pink Ladies always tried to fulfil the needs on the hospital's wish list with any money they received.

The volunteer said she was told the anonymous donor was "thrilled" the bulk of the money had gone to the paediatric ward.
