Souths scored a relatively comfortable win over CYMS on Saturday, wrapping things up quickly after the Cougars resumed at 5/97 on day two of the clash at Lady Cutler 4.
Needing a further 76 runs for victory, the Cougars needed not out batsmen Nathan Hawke and Gavin Weekes to dig in but it didn't work out that way.
Tom Mitchell (2/19) knocked over Weekes (11) and then sent Harry McPherson (0) packing in the same over.
Hornets veteran John Colwell, who missed week one, then claimed the final three wickets as CYMS was knocked over for 134.
Newtown found form in a huge way in round two, bouncing back from an opening loss to score an outright win over Macquarie.
The Tigers were well on top when day two began, resuming at 2/67 after knocking the Blues over for 100 on day one of the clash at Lady Cutler 3.

Craig Pettit (46 not out) and Adam Davis (41) led the way as Newtown got to 5/133 before declaring.
The end then came soon for Macquarie as they were rolled for 60, with Malachi Dutschke doing the bulk of the damage.
Dutschke finished with the hugely impressive figures of 4/9 from 10 overs, while Bart Goodman chipped in with 3/23.
The left Newtown with just 28 runs needed to secure the outright win and they achieved that with a minimum of fuss, losing just one wicket on the way to collecting maximum points.
The final match of the round saw RSL-Colts fight off an outright loss against Rugby.
After Rugby posted 230 and Colts was left at 2/20 at stumps on day one, there was wickets galore when play resumed.
Colts was knocked over for just 96, as Rugby's Nick Karydis (3/25), Zac Murphy (2/10) and Alex Walker (2/34) did the bulk of the damage.
Rugby enforced the follow on and looked destined to score an outright win when Matt Naden (4/13) tore through the Colts lineup.
But the men in red hung on, and batted out the 39 overs required to finish at 9/74.
There was no RSL-Kelly Cup action on Saturday as the third grade competition had a general bye.
