Messy Miss is owned by the Trundle-based Taunton family, with relatives and friends, while Pedway is raced by the extended McMahon family from Tullamore.
Rodney Robb from Nyngan, who trains Messy Miss and Pedway, also combined with his apprentice Clayton Gallagher to complete a treble for the day, with Bells 'N' Bows, in the final event.
Messy Miss (Gallagher, $7) led for home in the Micool Air Class 1 Handicap (1,200 metres) and after a battle with Seawatch (Eleanor Webster-Hawes, $17) beat that horse by a short half head with Adsum (Greg Ryan, $6.50) in third place.
Gallagher then gave his mount a good run behind the leaders in the 1,000 metres Carpet One Benchmark 66 Handicap and Pedway ($2.60 favourite), carrying the 62.5 kilograms top weight, cleared out to win by over four lengths from Go Beau Jangles (Ken Dunbar, $10) and Snippety Snip (Kate Cowan, $18).
It was another top ride by Gallagher when Bells 'N' Bows ($5.50) came from midfield with a rails run to account for Harrietta (Webster-Hawes, $3.20 favourite) and Relaxed (Cowan, $7) in the 1600 metres Western Star Hotel Benchmark 58 Handicap.
Apart from Robb and Gallagher, Gulgong trainer Brett Thompson and jockey Ashley Morgan also had a good day, combining for a double with Clever Missile ($2.50 favourite) and Smart Moove ($2.20 favourite).
Formerly from New Zealand where she rode successfully, Cowan continues to impress since becoming apprenticed to Dubbo trainer Kody Nestor.
She had the Nestor trained Five Star Gal ($4.40) in a nice position close to the leading pack before winning the Dubbo City Toyota Class 1 & Maiden Plate (1,600 metres) from Polished Penny (Jake Pracey-Holmes, $3.40 favourite) and Mount Taishan (Billy Cray, $21).
The Clint Lundholm, Dubbo trained Conspirator (Pracey- Holmes, $5) at debut contested the 1,000 metres Rhino Lodge Maiden Handicap and after taking the lead in the straight, raced away to win by over three lengths from Kruptable (Dunbar, $4.40) and Alpine Royal (Wendy Peel, $31).
On the same day as the Victoria Derby at Flemington and the Golden Eagle at Rosehill, the Dubbo meeting attracted a very big crowd.
Following the Melbourne Cup day meeting at Dubbo, racing is scheduled for Orange on Friday and at Warren (Cotton Cup) on Sunday.
