The annual All Stars Clash, usually held at Sporties Dubbo, has been held every year since the passing of Henry Gordon.
This time around it will be at Club Dubbo, something bowls manager Anthony Brown is happy to see.
"It was played recently at Dubbo Sporties, obviously with Sporties closure that couldn't happen anymore, so we were asked to take over as the major sponsor and we've taken it on," Brown said.
The competition will involve two teams - the Indigenous Stars and the Flying All Stars - and other games will be held for those not selected to compete and attend and pay respects.
"The day's about two teams playing each other for the big shield, we try and have it as an open gender day where everyone can come," Brown said.
"Anyone can turn up and play, it's just about remembering Henry and everyone having fun."
While Henry played at a number of the region's bowling clubs, he had recently returned to Club Dubbo before his passing, and is remembered fondly by everyone there.
"Henry was a member here and at Dubbo Railway, he was a great guy and he played with everyone, he was that sort of bloke who just got along with everyone," Brown said.
Henry's wife, Elsie Gordon, said that funding this year will go towards a cardiac defibrillator, that will then be donated.
"In the past, we donated the money raised to the heart foundation, because it was a heart attack that took him," she said.
"This year the money will go towards a defibrillator in a partnership with the Red Cross and that will then be donated to a non-government organisation here in the region."

For Elsie, the event being hosted by Club Dubbo is a fitting shift, given that Henry had spent much of his early life playing bowls there and had moved back there before his passing.
"It has all sort of come full circle," Gordon said.
"It is nice, it's been an honour to think that both clubs hold Henry in that high regard.
"A lot of his early days were spent here and he also thoroughly enjoyed mentoring all the young kids that came along to bowls here, he really, really got something out of that."
The All Stars Clash, Elsie said, will give others a chance to experience Henry's passion and love for the game of bowls.
"Everybody who turns up on the day should have a wonderful, wonderful day and it's also recognition to the people who played with him and have enjoyed playing the game with him," she said.
"I guess the love of bowls for him was something that was given to him by his father, it was passed on to him and his younger brother Bob, who'll be here for the game."
The game will be held on Saturday, November 16 at Club Dubbo.
"Club Dubbo is also a club where he linked up with a lot of past people that he'd grown up with through his life and also a lot of the people that he enjoyed playing with," Gordon said.
"He knew coming back here that he was coming back to friends and, I guess, the bowls family."
