The 80-year-old says; "There's no room for bullies in this world."
The Daily Liberal sat down with Mr James to ask him how his app works, why he's passionate about helping to stop bullying and why he believes hypnotherapy works.
Q: Why are you encouraging locals in Dubbo to download the app?
A: I want to reach out to everywhere that I can because bullying is prevalent in all areas all over the country, all over the world. Everyone experience in anyplace, of any gender and of any age.
Q: What compelled you to make the app and how does it work?
A: I consider my therapy quite unique. The person who is being bullied lacks self- esteem and confidence and does not feel comfortable fronting up to someone in an official capacity. My therapy is on an app accessed with a smartphone. The initial recording is free. It first helps the person drift into a relaxed state which enables the information on how to confront the bully to be more powerful. The final part of the recording has a series of powerful affirmations. The recording is only about fifteen minutes long and is best listened to in a quiet space - perhaps one's bedroom. This contains valuable information on building confidence, self-esteem and so on.
Q: Why does bullying stand out to you as an important issue to try and tackle?
A: Bullying is a significant problem. It has been a problem and always will be a problem. It's a fact and modern technology lends itself to it. Technology is not only advancing, it's accelerating. Years ago people lived in smaller, close-knit communities, didn't travel very far and could support one another. Now we have Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter - the list goes on. Bullying is not confined to the younger generation. Bullying has no boundaries. It affects different genders, ages, school or work place, religious beliefs and social status.
Q: What studies have led you to believe in the benefits of Hypnotherapy?
A: I grew up in the UK on a relatively small farm. I then served in the British Royal Marine Commandos, gaining valuable experience and a discipline which has helped me ever since. I returned to the land and was a farmer for over thirty years, dealing with the forces of the weather, the marketplace and government policies. I travelled extensively for both business and pleasure. These activities and pursuits have given me a wide and deep knowledge of my fellow human beings from many walks of life. This has been put to good use in the last twenty years as I studied and practised hypnotherapy. I understand where my clients are coming from and how they are affected by their circumstances. I am able to empathise with them and invariably assist them towards complete mental and physical recovery. I directed my focus towards bullying because it's a distressing and widespread aspect of life for many people.
