"I'm definitely very excited, especially after our last year," Hill said.

"I think where we finished on the ladder doesn't really show how good a year we actually had.

"There were moments there where we were pushing teams like Dubbo CYMS and the Nyngan Tigers, as well as Parkes and Forbes, so I think that shows we're headed in the right direction."

Hill, who came to the Jets after being sidelined with injuries during his debut year coaching and captaining the Macquarie Raiders, knows that the injury plagued year his team had last season cut them short of the result they were seeking.

"Probably I think we had a little strike, we ended up having about eleven blokes out injured by the end of the year, so I think that's one area that needs focus; that injury management," he said.

"We were going really well early in that season until we started losing guys to injury."

Heading into next season, Hill says the focus is on maintaining a core group and keeping a consistent team together throughout the year, something that many teams struggled to achieve as injuries tested club rosters across Group 11.

"We haven't really made any big changes at the moment," he said.

"We're still in talks to try and get a few players we've been looking at but it's still silly season right now, you never really know who you're going to get until the pre-season.

"We're really looking to retain the same core group, and round it out by filling a few key spots."

Hill says that a key area of focus is in his side's halves pairing, which saw frequent roster changes in between rounds and saw Tony Clevin, who took a starring role in the halves during 2018, miss a number of games.

"Last year we had boys come in and play out of position, so the main area we're looking to tackle that in is the halves, those are the key positions, we need them to play their best, control the field and use their kicking game," Hill said.

"It's a tough area to find talent in at the moment, there's some really talented footballers at CYMS and Nyngan."

Hill, who bowed out of the Jets' final game last season with a persistent injury, echoed co-captain Jarryd Usher's verdict on that loss in talking about where the Jet's focus will be in 2020.

"It's just having that self-belief in our self, when we had it at the start of last year we were pushing all those teams, that kind of commitment and attitude starts with the training and then that reflects on the football field, so we need to put in that effort first," he said.

Alex Sambrook will take over from Mark Kilby as the reserve grade's coach, while club legend Mick Clarke will hold the coaching reins at the junior level.

The club is yet to name a league tag coach for the 2020 season.
