Under the 'very high' level of restrictions, residents in the Dubbo local government area should use no more than 245 litres of water per day.
What you can't do under level four restrictions:
- Water your lawns or irrigate new turf.
- Wash down walls or paved surfaces.
- Use watering systems or non-fixed sprinklers to water the garden
What you can do under level four restrictions:
- Use drip systems, soaker hoses and hand-held hoses with a trigger nozzle to water residential gardens. They can be watered between 6pm and 8pm only on Wednesdays and Sundays.
- Fill private pools with permission from council and top up pools between 7am and 9am or 6pm and 8pm.
- Use evaporative air coolers between 7am and midnight.
- Have five minute showers.
What happens if I don't follow the rules?
Council staff will be monitoring the LGA. For those who are found to breach the restrictions, on the spot fines of $220 can be issued.
Residents can also report water restriction breaches on the Dubbo Regional Council website.
What about businesses?
Like residential properties, businesses are not permitted to water their lawns or irrigate new turf, but gardens can get a drink during set times.
Businesses will need to comply with their Water Saving Action Plans, which includes setting a water saving target for the next three years.
A breakdown of their water usage - with everything from toilets to the watering of gardens - will need to be included in the WSAP.
When will we move to a higher level of restrictions?
The level of restrictions Dubbo follows is determined by the councillors on the advice from the council staff. At the moment no date has been set for when level five restrictions will be introduced.
How do our level of water restrictions compare?
Orange is currently on level five water restrictions while Bathurst is on 4-5. Narromine, Trangie and Nyngan are all on level three water restrictions.
Where can I find more information?
Information on Dubbo's water situation can be found on the 'Dubbo Water Crisis' section of the website. Dubbo Regional Council's website also packed full of information.
