Dubbo Regional Council workers will be undertaking vegetation improvement works at the cemetery in the coming weeks and it has sought to ease concerns of locals who may be upset by the works.
The council will be trimming overgrown hedges at the New Dubbo Cemetery which will mean headstones and monuments will be removed over a period of about two and a half weeks.
All the headstones and monuments will be returned when the work has been completed.
Council's Team Leader Natural Resources Des Mackey said the council understands that family members and loved ones may find it difficult if the visit and see headstones and monuments removed.

"The works might be difficult for some family members to come across, which is why council wants visitors to the cemetery to be aware of the temporary removal," he said.
"This work is being undertaken to not only improve the overall look of the cemetery, but also the area where these particular graves are located."
The work will get underway on 28 October, 2019. Signage will be up at the cemetery indicating where the work is being carried out. Work should be complete on the 14 November, 2019. Anyone with questions can contact the Cemetery Management Team on 02 6801 4000.
