St John's College History teacher Susie Hines said the students were asked to select a topic they felt passionate about that they haven't been studying in class.
The idea for The History Showcase came about three years ago as a chance for each year seven student to choose an area of particular interest to them and conduct extensive research.
"We encourage 3D models, videos, interviews and anything else they may like to use.
Their research culminates in the Showcase afternoon where the parents, friends, and families are invited to view the work.
The main idea behind this is to encourage students' love of History, hone independent research skills and curiosity. Teaching them to work autonomously," Ms Hines said.
The students were given one lesson every two weeks (for two terms ) to work on their projects.
