The incident was sparked after an argument about a stolen television.
According to court documents the victim bit some of Anforth's ear off in self-defence and Anforth claimed he stabbed the man in an effort to defend himself.
Anforth, 46, pleaded guilty to reckless wounding and breaching an apprehended domestic violence order.
In Dubbo Local Court on October 18 magistrate Theresa Hamilton sentenced Anforth to 18 months in jail with a 12-month non-parole period. With time already served taken into account, Anforth will be eligible for parole on January 12, 2020.
