On October 19 the $14 million prize was raced for at Royal Randwick and the youngest horse in the race, the three-year-old Yes Yes Yes, swept home to beat its more experienced rivals.
The young horse certainly has racing gold in its blood as its mother, Sin Sin Sin, was the 2008 Wellington Boot winner.
Yes Yes Yes was ridden by jockey Glen Boss at Randwick and is trained by Chris Waller, of Winx fame.
Wellington Race Club president, Ian Darney said there was a lot of good horses that have come from the Boot.
"But I think that's the first dam (Yes Yes Yes' mother) to have won something like that, which is just enormous for us," he said.
"It's a tremendous kick-a-long...."
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
There have been plenty of other tremendous things happening at the local club in recent times.
In July this year, Racing NSW announced major prize money increases to country racing carnivals across the state including the Wellington Boot.
The prize money for the feature race will now be $200,000 as well as a new $50,000 'Country Magic' race, which is restricted to country-trained horses.
And the next big meeting at Wellington will be the Boxing Day races, which Mr Darney described as the club's "second biggest day of the year."
