A teenager will face court after he was apprehended by a group of men after allegedly stealing from a vehicle in Dubbo's main street on Monday.

About 1pm Monday, police allege the 18-year-old man smashed the front driver side window of a Nissan Patrol parked on Macquarie Street.
He is alleged to have stolen a wallet and cash from inside the ute.
A short time later, an altercation occurred on Macquarie Street involving the occupants of the ute and the man.

The man is alleged to have armed himself with a metal sign and attempted to run from the scene before he was apprehended by the group.
Police arrived at the scene and arrested the man.
He was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with common assault, destroy or damage property and larceny.
He was bail refused to appear before Dubbo Local Court on Tuesday.
