Telstra's failure to resolve a "system error" which caused Cobar Shire Council to be without proper internet access for nearly two weeks has left local mayor Lilliane Brady OAM fuming.

"We weren't able to get any emails, we didn't have any contact with the outside world," Cr Brady told the Daily Liberal.
"What business can cope with that?"
Cr Brady said the council's internet problem started on October 3 and was not resolved until October 16.
"We didn't know what was going on in the outside world," she said.
"We couldn't forward any information, we couldn't send any information. If it happened to you...how could you manage?"
If a Sydney council experienced lost internet access, Cr Brady said she believed the issue would have been resolved quicker.
"Two weeks is absolutely ridiculous," she said.
"I never thought anything like this would happen. I thought this was 2019.
"Honestly we can't survive, particularly out in the west, without our emails.
"I really do not think that Telstra can get away with things like this anymore. I just feel it's contemptible but anyway, we'll see what happens but I intend to take it as far as I can."
Telstra's regional general manager Mike Marom declined to say if his company would compensate the council for the loss of productivity it endured.
"While we were working to change Cobar Council's internet service...a system error occurred resulting in a loss of service," Mr Marom confirmed.
"Our team will continue to work closely with Cobar Council to ensure their internet service is working, and address any further concerns with them," he said.
