Souths' batsman Lachlan Endacott put in a gritty performance, with the youngster facing 170 balls in order to prevent an outright Macquarie win, but the Ed Haylock captained outfit were still able to claim a double bonus points first inning performance, winning by six wickets and claiming 262 runs to Souths' 119 when all was said and done.
While the first grade game belonged to Macquarie, the results were reversed in the Pinnington Cup, where the Hornets claimed a win after tallying up 217 runs for six wickets, while Macquarie lingered on 208 for 9.
Macquarie's first grade side will have a chance to build a streak when they meet the Newtown Tigers on October 26 on Lady Cutler Field, while Souths will play the CYMS Cougars at Victoria Park's number one oval.
