After scoring wins in all four grades in round one, the women in pink dropped just one game against the Mudgee Dragons at the Apex Oval junior grounds.
The loss came in the under 13s where an inspired second half effort led by Emma Edwards proved not enough as the Kaitlyn Mason-coached Goannas fell to a 20-16 loss.
"We were 14-0 down at halftime, we just said we had to get back to our basics, get running onto the ball, getting our body in front and making tackles," Mason said.
"Our second half was much better. Mudgee ended up scoring right on the buzzer and getting the win, but it was 14-14 for the last ten minutes or so, it was a really good, hard fought game from both sides."
Fatigue was singled out as the reason the Goannas couldn't complete the turnaround and down the Dragons.
"I think they had a better second half than first half for sure," Mason said.
"The weather and the fatigue got them a bit at the end but they were quite happy with the comeback. They just fell that little bit short at the end, but that's football.
"They're facing Woodbridge next weekend and we're really excited."
Mason's under 15s made it two-from-two after a fast start and star turn from Haleigh McCarney led them to a 42-12 victory.

"I was very proud of their effort this week. We had a chat before the game and I told them that they needed to be a bit more physical to start, we went through some drills and got into the right mindset and we needed to get into that grind early," Mason said.
"That first ten minutes, they really pushed and supported each other and were covering well out wide, so it was a really good effort from all the girls."
McCarney was a standout at hooker and kept her side on the front foot throughout the win.
"Haleigh's one of those players that if you tell her one job she'll get out there and do it," Mason said.
"Hooker's a hard position and she's never played there before but she goes out there and gives it her all and you can see the results, she's been phenomenal.
I feel very lucky and honoured to be a part of it.

"It's really exciting to see what opportunities are coming for her."
Mason's responsibilities on the weekend extended to the under 18s side, which once again put together an emphatic performance under the guidance of Western star Taneka Todhunter.
"I couldn't get past how focused those girls were," she said.
"They knew their job and what to do, they knew exactly what their performance needed to be to step it up that week and they did everything well.
"Taneka does all those one percent things very well.
"She guided the girls across the park. Everywhere the ball was, she popped up too, she's got that footy brain, where she just calms the girls and they play a lot better."
The under 18s and opens side also dominated and neither allowed a try in.
The 18s won 60-0 while it was 50-0 in the opens match.
Mason said the dominant results are down to the culture the Goannas have tried to create during the last few years.
"The older girls get there early to cheer on the younger teams, it's such a great culture to be a part of and it's going to be set there for years to come; I feel very lucky and honoured to be a part of it," she said.
The Goannas next head to Condobolin to take on Woodbridge, while the 15s will play in Parkes on Wednesday.
