Charlotte Newby, of Dubbo South Public School, was recognised for her compassion, integrity and kindness at a ceremony for the Fred Hollows Humanity Award at the University of Technology Sydney, held on Wednesday.

Charlotte was nominated for her altruistic and philanthropic nature.
"Charlotte embraces everyday life with positivity and is well-known within her school and community for her kindness and generosity," Dubbo Headspace coordinator Amy Mines said.
"Charlotte made a load of clay jewellery, which she then sold and donated all the funds to her school's sponsor child."
Fred Hollows Founding Director Gabi Hollows said the Award highlights inspirational students making a positive difference in their communities.
