"There is enough public unrest with the River Street bridge that Dugald and the state government should have another look at it," he said.

"It is bleedingly obvious they should.

"The job of a government and a local member is to listen to the community

"You can't just sit there and blindly follow with an idea just because someone came up with it and I think they need to explain the logic of what they are doing.

"No one using common sense can see how the government proposal will improve traffic around the roundabout, with their plan, we will still see a huge line up of traffic in the mornings."

Mr Dickerson says he has spoken to many people, and they don't understand how the River Street Bridge will address traffic problems.

"By putting in another bridge in won't address that problem and the community doesn't understand how it will work," he said.

"So there is a great opportunity for the government and Dugald to give us their data and show us how they came to their conclusions rather than just say we are doing this because we said we were going to do it."

Mr Dickerson said the current proposal only half fixes two problems.

"The current proposal won't fix traffic congestion," he said.

"You live in Dubbo because we like being five minutes from anywhere to anywhere, you want that convenience.

"The solution would be to give more access to the other side of the river by duplicating the LH Ford Bridge, and the other is to get the trucks around the Victoria Street intersection and out of Dubbo.

"If that's a bypass that goes a little way of Dubbo than so be it, we need to get those trucks out of Dubbo and let the Newell highway flow."
