On-campus classes for Session 2 will be ending on October 18, followed by two weeks of exams.

Charles Sturt University recently awarded $67,050 to 67 community groups across the University's regional footprint in the second and final round of the 2019 Community- University Partnership (CUP) Grants Program. The University received 115 applications this round across five categories, the highest number of grant applications since the program began.

Charles Sturt's CUP Grants Program provides financial grants of up to $1,500 to community groups, organisations, schools, and individuals in regions surrounding six of the University's campuses: Albury-Wodonga, Wagga Wagga, Bathurst, Orange, Port Macquarie, and Dubbo.

The total amount of CUP Grants awarded in 2019 is worth more than $120,000 across the two rounds. Applications for the grants were available across five categories: arts and culture, sports development, education development, Indigenous engagement, and health and wellbeing. The goal of the grants is to support the development of communities across the University's regional footprint through contributions to cultural, economic, and sporting activities. Face Up art exhibition

On Thursday, 10 October 2019 the University will be hosting a closing event for the Face Up art exhibition currently in display at the Dubbo campus. Director of the University's Art Collections Dr Thomas Middlemost will deliver a free talk about the exhibition, which includes works by Weaver Hawkins, Arthur Wicks, Franck Gohier, Debra Luccio, Jason Greig, Klaus Freideberger, Guy Warren, Murray Walker, Rona Green, James Cant, Frank Medworth, John Percival, Sidney Nolan, Denis O'Connor, and Charles Blackman.

Public talk

Charles Sturt University's School of Indigenous Australian Studies is hosting a public talk on Saturday, 12 October 2019 at 4:30pm. The talk will be led by Meriki Onus and Tarneen Onus Williams on Indigenous Youth Activism. A reception with food and refreshments will follow the talk. This talk is supported by a Seminar Series Award from the Urban Studies Foundation. Entitled Doing Indigenous urban research: creative futures and Indigenising urban studies, this public lecture series centres Indigenous expertise and histories to contemporary urban problems in Australia and demonstrates the relevance of Indigenist research approaches to international urban studies. This public talk is free and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
