Far West won just one of four games across under 13s and 15s on the day.
The 13s provided that victory as a fine performance in the field and a run-a-ball 48 not out from Cooper Giddings secured victory.
The afternoon match wasn't so kind to the Richie Richardson-coached outfit, which suffered a 43-run loss at the hands of the Greater Southern Marlins.
Things weren't much better for the Greg Rummans-coached 15s side.
A heavy nine-wicket loss to the ACT/Southern District Kings was followed by a six-wicket loss to the Marlins.
The 13s' win early on at Lady Cutler 2 was an impressive one.
After losing the toss and being sent out in the the field the Far West attack never allowed the ACT/Southern District Barons to feel comfortable.
Runs were hard to come by and as the pressure grew so did the confidence of the Far West fielders.
Four run-outs were executed by the hosts as the Barons were restricted to 6/84 from their 20 overs.

Bobby McAlpin's 34 from 57 balls was the best effort with the bat.
The run chase was dominated by Giddings while he had support from Harry Roscarel (32).
The 13s then came up against a Jackson Ingram-inspired Marlins in the afternoon game at Lady Cutler 3.
Ingram made 68 from 40 balls as the Marlins posted 6/134 from the 20 overs.
Angus Boland was a little expensive but proved effective as he took 2/32 for Far West.
Far West then made 6/91 in reply, with Giddings playing a lone hand in the chase.
He made 42 not out from 41 balls in the unsuccessful chase.
The 15s side suffered a nine-wicket loss to the ACT/Southern District Kings first-up on Thursday before a six-wicket loss to the Marlins in the afternoon.
Despite the results, the tournament is allowing the Far West juniors plenty of representative experience heading into the new season.
That's something Cricket NSW has been pushing for in the NSW Youth Championships, as well as making it a fun carnival to be a part of.
Both Far West sides will play one-day games on Friday, the final day of action in Dubbo.
