Evaporative air conditioners must be turned off between midnight and 7am under stage four water restrictions starting November 1 in the Dubbo Regional Local Government Area.
Julianne Buckland was part of the chorus of concern after this newspaper posted a story online about level four restrictions.
"Limiting use of any air conditioning unit could be life threatening to the elderly and the sick," she wrote.
"I know my own mother has MS and feels the heat badly."

A mother lashed out after learning of the ban.
"I tell you what if it's bloody hot I'll have my air con on. I'm not having my little baby overheat," Emily Mees wrote.
Darren Bear Dalton is concerned about busting "your gut all day in the heat" and then not being able to cool down.
"I wonder how many are going to end up in hospital from heat exhaustion from it," he wrote.
Many and varied responses included a question from Damon Young.
"Mine will only get turned on at five in the afternoon, so how is running from 5pm to 5am worse than running from 7am to 12am?" he wrote.
"Plus the fan will be on lower at night meaning less evaporation."
Justin Negus posted advice that the ban "will save approximately 140L of water per house, per day".
Level four restrictions also ban the watering of lawns with Joe Latta declaring they will become "just dirt".
