Chris Heywood was a little nervous about the short odds but he had no reason to fear as Blitzar lived up to his name in a hugely promising showing at Dubbo Turf Club on Sunday.

The Wagga trainer made the trip to Dubbo having seen Blitzar run second on debut at his home track last month and the performance saw him jump a raging $1.85 favourite in Sunday's Ray White Rural Dubbo Country Only Showcase Maiden Plate (1000m).
But he justified that showing in a huge way, as jockey Aaron Sweeney was virtually a passenger in the dominant two-and-a-half length victory.
"I've always had a big opinion of him but it's been three weeks between runs, he's second up, it was a gut-buster first up but 'Sweens' has done a great job," Heywood told Sky Thoroughbred Central.
"He got off him after the trial and he said 'this thing is a machine'."

Heywood went on to say Sweeney rated Blitzar as highly as reigning Country Championships winner Noble Boy.
"It's a big wrap but he's got a bright future," Heywood added.
"Like I've said, whatever he did today he's only going to get better ... we'll see how he pulls up and go from there but he has got a bright future."
Heywood doesn't make the trip from Wagga to Dubbo all too often but the prizemoney on offer in Sunday's maiden feature was too good to ignore with a horse as exciting as Blitzar.
The three-year-old went on to produce a near perfect run as Sweeney settled down towards the front behind early leaders Southern Strategy ($19) and Bellsov Bourke ($5.50).
The Connie Greig-trained Southern Strategy, going for a first win in career start number 26, led into the straight but Blitzar got the front with ease and cruised to the line.
Blitzar won comfortably from One More Girl ($10), who motored home along the rails to run second, while Kennywyn ($31) showed some promise in third.
