Set to call Sir Roden Cutler Park in West Dubbo home, the family-friendly course will form part of the popular Titan Macquarie Mud Run event.
"It's fantastic for Dubbo," mud run committee chairman Rod Fardell said.
"The course will be a permanent fixture for us but it'll also be a phenomenal, ongoing outdoor feature for everyone to enjoy," he said.
"Outdoor living is such a big part of Australian life and it's great we're now able to enhance an outdoor space in Dubbo."
Mr Fardell said young people and adults would be able to embark on the course.
Club Dubbo, the mud run committee and the NSW Government are paying for the development, which is set to include a new car park and play space.
"I'd like to see it open in early December," Mr Fardell said.
Community support helped make the course a reality because local residents voted for the project to be awarded funding as part of the NSW Government's My Community Project initiative.
Mr Fardell thanked Dubbo Regional Council for supporting the project, state Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders, and the government, for making the funding available and Club Dubbo for the significant financial contribution it is making.
Acting NSW Treasurer Damien Tudehope said unsuccessful projects in Dubbo who applied for My Community Project funding could be eligible to apply for other government assistance programs such as the Community Building Partnership fund.
"We asked people to come up with ideas to benefit their local area and the response was impressive and inspiring, which is why I am strongly encouraging unsuccessful applicants to apply to other NSW Government funding programs," he said.
