Dubbo residents will be encouraged to ask one another about their mental health on Thursday for RU OK? Day.
RU OK? is a national suicide prevention charity. On September 12 the organisation encourages everyone to ask those around them how they're feeling.
In Dubbo, the day will be marked with a free community event from Compass Housing Services, in conjunction with headspace, Wellways, Marathon Health and Human Services.

The drop-in event will give people an opportunity to to start a conversation. It is available not only for Compass tenants but the wider community.
Compass Housing's suicide prevention coordinator Jennifer Caine said the organisation was playing its part to make sure its tenants, their families and the broader community were doing okay.
She said like all Australians, social and community housing tenants needed to look after their mental health and they needed practical tips and support to do so.
"Many social and community housing tenants have previously dealt with housing stress and other issues in their lives which negatively impact on their mental health," Ms Caine said.
