"We're extremely happy with the nominations," General Manager Vince Gordon said.

"264 nominations across the day of racing is exceptional for us, we have 23 nominations in the Cup alone and all the locals have a horse in there, there's plenty of coastal horses in there as well."

The showcase meeting boasts an impressive potential line-up, with Kody Nestor's Mr Dumont searching for a third straight win, Brett Thompson's Sugar Dance looking to double up and Gai Waterhouse's Rapido Chaparro hunting a turnaround win in the $100,000 Gold Cup.

But Gordon says there's plenty of top quality racing expected on the day, calling the Iron Jack flying handicap 'one of the best races the club has seen for a long time'.

"It will be a hotly contested sprint, there's very, very good horses in that race and good nominations for a full field of sprinters, that always lends itself to a good race, because they've got to go hard to get the goodies."

"I think it's a really good attraction, the 'country-only' trained races have been exceptionally well supported and the nominations in those country restricted races is exceptional."

"The Regional Australia Bank Country Magic showcase is another exceptionally well nominated field and should be an outstanding race."

Gordon says the club's anticipation for the big day just keeps building, and everyone involved is waiting for the Gold Cup Calcutta on Saturday night to get started.

"I think it will be very big, the feeling around the club at the moment is very, very positive," Gordon said.

"We've had phone calls from all over from so many, I really believe it will be an exceptional day of racing, following on from that Gold Gup Calcutta on Saturday night at the Western Star."

Gordon says that with what the club is hearing from people, there's optimism that the yearly showcase event, already a major attraction for trainers in the region, could turn into something much, much bigger in the coming years.

"People are feeling that they'll make a weekend of it as well, that's a big thing for Dubbo in the future, especially for the tourism industry, I think the turf club can certainly be a big part of that and one of the feature attractions around here for travellers and tourists," Gordon said.

"The enthusiasm we're currently seeing generated in country racing is in part due to the increased prize money and the ongoing energy and enthusiasm by Racing NSW, and the clubs and particpants in the regional racing industry."
