Burns made his debut one round earlier in the season, during the Panther's 22 - 6 loss to the Sydney Roosters, filling in for Dubbo junior Isaah Yeo, from the bench.
The second appearance this season for the former Spaceman resulted in a much better result for the Panthers, dealing out a 54 - 10 drubbing to the Newcastle Knights.
Burns scored two tries in the game's second stanza, helping add twelve points to the Panther's total tally on the scoreboard.
The second-rower, filling in at centre, plucked a perfectly placed kick from Nathan Cleary out of the air in the 49th minute and planted it to the left of the posts, before leaping up and giving the fans back home in Parkes a special tribute; gesturing to his red, white and blue mouth guard in tribute to his former club.
Burns leapt on a second opportunity when an attack along the wing by Jerome Luai was stopped, bringing the ball back to the twenty year old through Wayde Egan and giving Burns another opportunity for a try during the 64th minute.
Despite the calm performance, Burns said the experience was 'startling' in a post-game interview.
"It's been a bit startling, actually, but it's been pretty good, it's a pretty big occasion playing for Jimmy [Maloney], but the boys turned it on, which is pretty good."
The junior was also blown away by the home-crowd at Panthers Stadium.
"It was unreal, the fans all turned out today, it was a good experience, and hopefully there'll be a few more times next year."
