The dust arrived early in Nyngan, with a resident sharing this photo of the dust as it swept through.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) said the dust may extend to the northern coastline late on Friday afternoon or evening.
While a severe weather warning for damaging winds was issued on Friday morning for large parts of the Central Tablelands, Dubbo and Orana are not in the firing line.
"Significant areas of raised dust are likely to develop across inland districts on Friday," the warning stated.
Wind gusts in Dubbo have been recorded as high as 54km/h.
