"I hope they can find enough players for next year."
Part of the problem for Westside in building a complete roster for next year will be the need to field an under 18's side. While the Group 11 bylaws require each club to field four teams, Westside was given dispensation this year to not field a juniors team, which is something Loxley and the Group 11 board recognise will be difficult for the competition going forward.
"There's still the expectation that they'll need a junior side, the biggest dilemma in November will be the format of the competition and the dwindling numbers in junior league."
Loxley said clubs would have to ask themselves the 'six million dollar question' of what needs to be done to address the issue of junior teams.
"The clubs have to look at the different ways that can happen, whether we adopt the Group 10 strategy of taking first grade, reserve and league tag and whatever clubs can produce a junior side, or something else."
"Between Dubbo and Narromine, there just aren't enough kids around for all four teams."
