Principal Warren Melville told the Daily Liberal police were called to the school about 12.45pm.
"No students or staff were injured," he advised.
"We did have a volatile situation and it was resolved shortly after outside school [grounds]."
Parents and carers were notified of the lockdown and the matter was resolved, Mr Melville said.
"It was simply precautionary," he said.
The police response was "brilliant" and further details about the incident could not be disclosed for privacy reasons, Mr Melville said.
The lockdown was the first one at the school in at least 10 years and required students to remain in their classrooms for about 30 minutes.
