The Tracker Riley Cycleway lighting project has taken another step forward with 20 solar lights installed in areas where access to power and services was deemed too costly.

The cycleway has long been a recreational hub for those looking for a scenic walk or a run along the Macquarie River in Dubbo.
Dubbo Regional Council and the former Dubbo Council had previously installed lighting to portions of the track to encourage safer use of the trail after dark.

The NSW Police in recent years identified poorly lit sections of the cycleway as potential crime spots.
Mayor of the Dubbo Region Ben Shields said safety in the community is always a priority.
"Making sure our community feels safe is a big priority for this Council. Promoting well-being and physical activity is also important for this Council, so we knew we had to do something to improve the safety of one of our most used recreational assets," Cr Shields said.
Dubbo Regional Council's Open Space Coordinator Ben Pilon has collaborated with Enlighten Australia to solve the lighting issue.
"Finding funding is often hard for the variety of projects we want to deliver, so working with Enlighten on this important safety improvement was valuable," Mr Pilon said. "Enlighten donated 20 energy-efficient solar lights, and with the help of the Dubbo Stampede Running committee and the Titan Macquarie Mud Run committee we were able to install these lights along the cycleway. The lights operate on an independent rotating axis for the LED panel, and this allows us to focus the light where they're needed."
