Rebels and Orange Tigers have waited two weeks to get on the park for their upcoming major semi-final clash, which has put match preparation in the spotlight.

Keeping the rust away over the weekend off and honing in on areas of improvement are the keys for both clubs.

The Rebels believed they've succeeded on those fronts.

"Everyone appreciated the time off but everyone's keen to get out there, especially after watching the minor semi-final last weekend. That just got everyone more excited," Bushrangers co-coach Matt Archer said.

"We'll continue to trust our defence, who have really set us up throughout the year. Our midfield have played a bit more forward of the ball and attacked more.

"If we win enough ball in the middle then we can keep that trust and we won't have to sink back."

There's been little to gauge from the Rebels-Tigers matchups this season.

Rebels gave up the lead to lose by a point in their opening clash back in April, then their next meeting was cut short and declared a draw due to an injury.

"The first time we played them feels like it was forever ago and we obviously only got half a game in last time we played them," Archer said.

"We're expecting the same old Tigers - a big bodied team who will go in hard at the contested football. We won't be asking for our guys to be doing too much different.

"Doing the little things right will hopefully let good things come our way."

The winner of the game earns hosting rights for the big dance while the loser will face a tricky date with minor semi-final winners Bathurst Giants.

Rebels won hosting rights for last year's grand final and are determined to do the same this time around, as they look to turn around the result of the 2018 decider.

"It would mean a lot to the club. It's a big thing to host it," Archer said.

"The other Bushrangers team will be supporting us and we want to win it for them and everyone in the club, for all the hard work they do."

While the winner will go on to host this season's decider, the defeated side will meet the Bathurst Giants in the preliminary final.

The Giants kept their season alive last weekend when thumping the Dubbo Demons in the sudden death minor semi-final.
