The Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child is back. Ms Paice is hoping to fill 2000 shoeboxes this year to be given out to children in areas like Vietnam and Cambodia.

"You see the kids in these places and they have nothing. They can barely afford the clothes on their backs," Ms Paice said.

"Sometimes this is the first gift they've ever received and they're so grateful. They grab your hand and say 'thank you, thank you'."

The parents of those receiving the gifts are also grateful for the donations.

"In some places in rural Vietnam the kids can't got to school unless they have their own pens and pencils so this helps them get an education and have a better life," Ms Paice said.

The shoeboxes can be picked up from the Christian Bookshop and the Salvation Army Family Store. They should be filled with items such as personal hygiene products, school supplies or toys.

Ms Paice said she would like to see more boxes filled for the two to four-years-olds or the 10 to 14-year-olds as they often had the lowest numbers.
