Daily Liberal photographer Belinda Soole's determination to get the best shots she could of visiting royals has made her a finalist in the News Media Awards 2019.

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex came to Dubbo in October last year, the talented photographer found a place among a group of international colleagues certain "they would know the right places" to capture magic moments.

Ms Soole's photo of Prince Harry and wife Meghan meeting then five-year-old Luke at Dubbo City Regional Airport secured her position as a finalist in the long-running competition's news photography community category.
International, national, regional and local media were out in force when the royals set foot in Dubbo for a day filled with activities including a meet-and-greet in Victoria Park.
Ms Soole said she was excited about the royal visit before, during and after it.
Covering the "world event" had been the highlight of her career to date.
The names of competition winners will be announced on September 24 in Sydney.
