On Wednesday, 16-year-old Taryn Ramsay tried out the $1826 recliner chair bought by the committee with some of the proceeds from its mud run in March this year.

"This year we thought we would come up here to the hospital and help kids and their families," he said.
"We're giving back what we can to our community."
Ms Simpson said the chair would also be used by parents of sick children needing to be held for long periods.

The committee also presented the unit with a $1348 bottle warmer which decreases the risk of milk being overheated.
It spent almost $5000 in total in a bid to support and cheer up young patients who are now also enjoying new books, pencils and bubble wands.
