Bella You, who describes herself as "an engineer, an artist and an aspiring entrepreneur" will be part of The Exchange team for five weeks.
Ms You is studying a master of business administration at Stanford Graduate School of Business, which numbers the founders of the world's most prominent countries among its alumni.
She signed up to the Global Management Immersion Experience (GMIX), which encourages Stanford MBA students to gain hands-on knowledge of international management by working in a corporate, government, or non-profit setting in a region new to them outside the United States.
Ms You said one of her dreams was to build an urban co-living and co-working space for artists and creative professionals.
Learning of The Exchange, a social impact organisation founded by Stanford graduate Jillian Kilby that provides co-working space and community for start-up businesses, piqued her interest.
"When I read about the GMIX opportunity at The Exchange, my eyes lit up and I couldn't wait to apply," Ms You said.
"I felt incredibly connected to their mission and vision.
"Having always been interested in shared spaces and small to medium business communities, I was truly inspired by how the team is bringing transformation to the old clock tower and the local community.
"I wanted to be part of this exciting journey so here I am."
Ms Kilby welcomed the arrival of the US visitor.
"Our aspiration from Bella for her time in Dubbo is that she returns to Stanford a braver, more experienced version of herself, feeling wildly accomplished, and knowing that she has friends for life next time she comes back to Australia," Ms Kilby said.
The Exchange was created in partnership with Charles Sturt University, which provides a home for The Exchange community at its Dubbo campus.
Ms Kilby, an engineer and business founder, is leading the restoration of the heritage building commonly known as the "Clock Tower" in Macquarie Street.
