Children from Dubbo's Peppercorn Child Care Centre visited the Macquarie Regional Library on Wednesday for a special Book Week 2019 storytime conducted by young persons officer Michaela Owen.

Dubbo Libraries Coordinator Melissa Tong said Book Week is special to them because it brings libraries and children together.
"It's a chance for us to engage with local schools, early childhood providers and the wider community through a shared love of books," Ms Tong said.
"Storytime sessions are important because they immerse children and caregivers in a shared positive language and literacy experience.
"Sharing a book provides opportunities for children to put words to feelings, encouraging and empowering them to express themselves.
"It provides opportunities for children to learn about themselves and others and encourages curiosity. Reading stories allows us to walk in the shoes of others. Reading can be a powerful tool in improving the quality of your life.
"We gain new knowledge and experiences from each new book we read."
