The bulk of the charges relate to five alleged indecent assaults carried out against the boy between July 2018 and August 2019.
The man has also been charged with several counts of intentionally sexually touching the boy.
A six-year-old girl was also allegedly sexually touched by the man.
Police denied the man bail after they arrested him.
He appeared in Dubbo Local Court on Monday and did not enter pleas.
Magistrate Gary Wilson granted the man conditional bail and the case returns to court on September 4.
