The young gun made the return to the side last week after stepping into the boots of the Panthers' first-grade five-eighth James Maloney while the latter was serving a one game suspension.
Firmly back on familiar footing after a dizzying trip to the game's heights, Burton produced an early try to give the Panthers the lead at the Panthers Stadium, but could do little but watch as the West Magpies wrestled back control of the contest early in the second half.

Fellow Dubbo gun Kaide Ellis crossed with some help from Forbes star Charlie Staines, before Burton was able to create an opportunity for Staines to cross himself, to put the Panthers back ahead and give them a much needed win after their losses in the two rounds prior.
The win will give the Panthers a much needed burst of breathing room on the competition ladder, with their position in the top four determinant on their performance in the competition's two remaining rounds.
This Sunday, the central west trio will travel to North Sydney Oval as the Panthers' Canterbury Cup side look to retain their position in the top four in all important clash with the fifth-ranked North Sydney Bears, how that contest shakes out could determine the final look of the Canterbury Cup's top four ahead of the game's final round, where the Panthers will take on the twelfth ranked Sea Eagles.
