CSU shocked Central West rugby at Cale Oval when defeating the powerhouse Narromine Gorillas in a thrilling New Holland Agriculture Cup grand final.
A Xander Bennett penalty goal inside the final minute secured the rousing 30-29 win over the defending premiers.
"Well you never say never do you," stunned CSU coach David Conyers said post game.
"The last two times we've been here we've had a hundred points put on us and we've just dropped our heads, but 29-10 it was at one stage and our boys could still see light at the end of the tunnel, and once we scored that try I thought here we go."
Jake Brennan scored both, the first starting from 60m out before he raced even further the second time to set-up a 12-0 lead.
CSU scored their first try of the match shortly before half-time, but the Gorillas managed to hit back before the break and went into the sheds with a strong 24-5 lead.
Following the break, CSU fought back with Regan Hughes getting the students within 14 but then Brennan completed his hat-trick to put the Gorillas seemingly in complete control.
However, those would be the last points of the game the hosts scored.
Back-to-back tries for Harry Hunt and Bennett rocketed the students back into the game before Jack Keppel opted to snap a field goal from close-range to get his side within two points of the Gorillas.
Bennett's late penalty than sealed the miraculous win.
While the drought-breaking nature of the win was special, the fact the students were thrashed 57-10 by the Gorillas in the major-semi just weeks ago made it even more memorable.
"We worked really hard in the last two weeks, we've had some guest coaches come and the attitude, adjustment and commitment the last two weeks has just been phenomenal," he said.
"I always had faith we could do good and all they had to do was play good together and that's what we did today.
"It's just fantastic to have the support here of the university and the other students and every single player gave their all today and that's all we asked of them."
While the Gorillas were shattered at full time, captain Tim Allworth commended the "great game of bush footy".
"What a game of footy," he said.
"To be leading 24-5 at half time ... it's a commendable effort for you guys (CSU) in the last 40 minutes to put us under some pressure.
"We couldn't control possession and that's what was the downfall for us in the last 40 minutes.
"Lads, heads up, there will be next year, we'll play footy again, we'll run around and we'll have fun."
