The workforce of Tomingley Gold Operations (TGO) has been boosted to support the launch of its underground mine at the end of the year.

The wholly-owned subsidiary of Alkane Resources has provided the community with an update on the project.
"TGO has just completed recruiting additional experienced underground truck drivers, loader operators and production drillers, in preparation for underground ore production," its August community newsletter says.

"The underground team will ultimately expand by 12 people to a total of 49, most of whom will all reside locally."
The newsletter identifies Tomingley, Narromine, Dubbo and Peak Hill as communities benefiting from the recruitment process.
TGO is transitioning from open-cut to underground mining.
"Even though open-cut mining has finished at TGO, gold is still being poured," the newsletter reports.
"Medium-grade ore stockpiles were processed during April and May, and for the rest of 2019 the plant will be processing low-grade stockpiles."
