The donated money has helped the Country Education Foundation buy the Hill Street premises ahead of the building's official launch in October.
CEF chairman Nick Burton Taylor said the donor wished to remain anonymous.
While the size of the donation has also not been revealed, the NSW Valuer General's records show the building was last sold in December 2018 for $1.11 million.
We are profoundly grateful to our anonymous supporter who shares our values and aspirations.

Mr Burton Taylor said the donor was committed to furthering young people's education.
"The motive was the leverage affect of education," he said.
"We are profoundly grateful to our anonymous supporter who shares our values and aspirations for young Australians, in furthering their education in all the challenges facing country communities.
"Investing in our future allows us to invest in theirs and helps secure the viability of smaller country communities."
CEF, which started in Booroowa, in 1993 has 44 foundations throughout NSW and other states.
Mr Burton Taylor said it was the first time a donor had made such a gift to the CEF.
"It's unique. We've been going for 25 years," he said.
Mr Burton Taylor said the foundation had supported 11 students in Orange this year and nine last year following the raising of $22,600 in the community.
It was set up in Orange in 2011 and has been based in Sale Street.
He said the foundation provided assistance grants to help students study.
"For an apprentice it might be tools," he said.
Mr Burton Taylor said they also provided assistance for students who needed to move to Sydney for their studies.
"We adapt the need very much to the individual's circumstances," he said.
"They are not large amounts, $2000-$5000. They may be repeated over a period of years."
"We don't accept government funding in principle because it tends to point you in a particular direction."
Funding is now open for Orange students considering studying in 2020.
