Every year the grade 12 students at St John's College vote for a local charity to raise funds for, and the popular choice this year was the RFDS.
The students raised funds through events including a charity golf day at the Dubbo Golf Club, and also selling chocolates and raffle tickets.
The St Johns year 12 coordinator Dianne Quade said the charity was chosen due to the connection a lot of the students had with the service.
"We have had incredible support from the community. JB-HI FI is our major sponsor, and it's been amazing how much support they've given us," Ms Quade said.
"I'm so proud of the students. I had no idea it the amount of money was going to get so high. Our students set an initial goal of $10,000.
According to St John's Principal, Kerry Morris, this is probably the second-highest amount raised by the annual college event.
"I am extremely proud of their efforts, and I'm proud of the student's holistic approach," Ms Morris said.
Dubbo Royal Flying Doctor Service base manager Kendall Graham said the money means a lot.
"It's a huge thank you to St John's College community, and obviously to the year 12's fundraising committee, it's a huge effort," Ms Graham said.
"We rely on these types of donations heavily.
"The money will go towards life-saving specialist medical equipment."
