Disgusted by River Street Bridge opposition
I am disgusted with the Dubbo Regional Council regarding its stance on the River Street Bridge. We have been given $140 million for this, why not use it? The council should be putting forward proposals for a ring road around Dubbo in the future. I am one of those who do not protest but see great value in a third river bridge in Dubbo. If the attitude of this council was held by the Sydney council in the 1930s the Harbour Bridge would not have been built. Susan Marte

Dugald is not listening
I believe Dugald Saunders is not listening to his electorate. Troy Grant and the RMS chose to support a bridge at River St without a cost-benefit analysis and without even considering Troy Bridge as an option. When pressed for a cost-benefit analysis in Dubbo recently, Alistair Lunn admitted that they were only now in the process of drafting one. To commence one after the decision has been made and whilst simultaneously pushing for the decision to be accepted does not stand well in the eyes of the community. Any such cost/benefit analysis should include the cost to upgrade the Eumungerie to Tomingley Rd (Dugald's choice of bypass), which would cost many millions more than giving Dubbo a 7-8km bypass of the Newell Highway.
I applaud the Council for their ongoing consideration to back the community's opposition to the project. The Stop the River Street Bridge Group are doing an admirable job getting many signatures in support of this cause, but deserve far more support from our community.
Dugald Saunders talks about the quiet people who support the bridge but won't speak up, however, what about those who are opposed and also remain silent? All those opposed should speak up, as it's the only way we will stop the lunacy that is the proposed River Street Bridge. Don't believe Dugald, for one minute, when he says that the $140 million can't be used for another project in Dubbo. Labor gave a guarantee before the election to quarantine the funding for Dubbo should they have been elected. Why can't the National Party do the same? Dugald is trying to scare us and that is poor form from a man who only won the election by 1500 votes. Kris Stevens
Floods or trucks
Residents of Dubbo can deal with a flood every few years. I don't think they should have to deal with a constant stream of trucks day and night. Sharon Cahill
