A lot can play out between now and finals time so we've decided to take a look at the challenge facing each side, what they've got to do to cement or improve their position, and how likely it is that will happen.
DUBBO CYMS
Currently: First (20 points)
Games to come: Parkes (A), Nyngan (H), Westside (A)
Not the easiest of ways to finish the year, but also not the most difficult.
CYMS will get exactly what it wants in these final weeks and should wrap up the minor premiership along the way.
Parkes and Nyngan will have a huge amount of motivation as they look to claim third spot on the ladder, while Westside won't pose to much of a challenge after what is expected to be back-to-back bruising encounters.
The biggest thing for captain-coach Jarryn Powyer will be starting games well, something that has lacked recently, and getting through each game unscathed. That injury list at CYMS just keeps on growing and could have a major impact come finals time.
Predicted finish: First
WELLINGTON COWBOYS
Currently: Second (16 points)
Games to come: Macquarie (A), Forbes (H), Narromine (A)
The Cowboys could still nab the minor premiership but for them the focus has got to be ensuring they finish second and play in that qualifying semi-final.
It might not look like the most difficult of runs home, but the challenge is going to be playing Macquarie and Forbes sides which are now desperate for wins in order to finish in the top five. Desperate teams are never easy to face.
The Cowboys are also coming off a loss at Nyngan, one in which Steve Gordon was sent off and subsequently suspended for three weeks for, but the squad still possess the quality and the depth to finish the season off well.
One thing worth watching will be the Cowboys defence, which has been so stingy at times, but in recent weeks has conceded 26 to Nyngan and 30 to Parkes. That will need to tighten up a little come finals time.
Predicted finish: Second
NYNGAN TIGERS
Currently: Third (13 points)
Games to come: Narromine (H), CYMS (A), Macquarie (A)
Of the finals contenders, only Macquarie has a more challenging run home.
Narromine has pushed every side its played this season, CYMS is on top of the ladder, and as stated earlier Macquarie is a desperate side.
Nyngan realistically should only need to win one of its last three games to finish in the top five, and after a confidence-boosting win over Wellington that result may well come next weekend against the Jets.
But this season has been an up-and-down one for the Tigers, with displays of absolute quality often followed by disappointing showings.
Finding that consistency and developing some momentum this time of year is vital, just ask Forbes teams of recent years, and while one win will be enough for Nyngan any more than that would have them firing on all cylinders.
Predicted finish: Fourth
PARKES SPACEMEN
Currently: Fourth (12 points)
Games to come: CYMS (H), Macquarie (H), Forbes (A)
The clash with Macquarie in the penultimate round shapes as a massive clash. The Spacemen aren't assured of a finals spot yet and with the Raiders sixth and needing wins that contest could well decide one of the final spots in the five.
Home ground advantage in that, and the meeting with CYMS, will be vital as the Spacemen have only lost once at Jock Colley Field this season and that day only one point separated the two sides.
The Spacemen are another side which has been up and down in 2019 and their defensive record is currently the worst of any team in the top five.
But there's undeniable quality and that should be enough to help them stay in the finals places.
Predicted finish: Fifth
FORBES MAGPIES
Currently: Fifth (11 points)
Games to come: Westside (H), Wellington (A), Parkes (H)
This was not how the season was meant to pan out for the Magpies. Marquee signings have failed and won't feature for the rest of the year while an almighty injury crisis has crippled the first grade side at times.
And yet, here they are. Still in the top five.
The Magpies will need at least two wins in the final three rounds and one of those is almost a given against Westside, a result that should give the defending premiers' for-and-against a nice boost as well.
That leaves a clash with Wellington at Kennard Park and then another massive southern derby at home to Parkes as the all-important games. Western representative Mitch Burke should be back for the latter of those, if not both.
Final round, at home, against a fierce rival who beat you earlier in the campaign. Everything seems to be pointing to another hugely important derby win for the Magpies.
Predicted finish: Third
MACQUARIE RAIDERS
Currently: Sixth (11 points)
Games to come: Wellington (H), Parkes (A), Nyngan (H)
After receiving a forfeit from Westside last time out, the Raiders will head to Wellington having had two weeks off. Good or bad thing? Who really knows until the final whistle sounds.
The trip to Kennard Park is just one of three extremely difficult games the Raiders have to finish off thier campaign. But, every challenge is an opportunity and if they are to win at least a couple of these games then they'll head into the finals with momentum and belief. The importance of that can not be understated.
However, it does appear hard to tip the Raiders to do that given how inconsistent they've been this season.
Macquarie has just four wins to its name, three of those against the sides below it on the table, while incredibly the side has recorded three draws in 2019.
Those results may well come back to haunt Wes Middleton and his men, too.
Predicted finish: Sixth
NARROMINE JETS
Currently: Seventh (5 points)
Games to come: Nyngan (A), Westside (A), Wellington (H)
Barring some incredible results, the finals dream for the Jets came to an end following a tight loss to Parkes last time out.
As has been said countless times this season, the development at Narromine can't be shown just by looking at the ladder. Two wins from 10 rounds doesn't make for ideal reading.
Even when looking at results it isn't great, five of the Jets eight losses have been by 24 points of more.
But the men in red and white pushed many of their opposition for long periods in those matches before fading out.
The Jets should score a win over Westside and promising showings in the other two games can continue building the platform that has been developed.
Predicted finish: Seventh
DUBBO WESTSIDE
Currently: Eighth (0 points)
Games to come: Forbes (A), Narromine (H), CYMS (H)
A forfeit last time out just needs to be forgotten. Westside didn't want to forfeit once this season but it happened.
They can't let it happen again. Having two of the final three games at home should help ensure it won't.
Decent numbers on hand is what the Rabbitohs need at the end of the year. Results, again, don't matter. Just get to the finish line with heads held high and then move on, and build on the plans already in place for 2020.
Predicted finish: Eighth
