The Demons currently sit in fourth spot on the Central West AFL ladder, while the Outlaws are one spot back in fifth.

With just two rounds remaining after this weekend the result could go a long way to deciding the fortunes of both sides.

Making things more interesting this round is the Bathurst Giants, in third and ahead of the Demons on percentages alone, playing host to the first-placed Orange Tigers.

The Demons head into the crucial contest at South Dubbo Oval after a massive 124-point win over Cowra last weekend, but they go into Saturday's game without a number of key figures.

Leading goal-scorer Bevan Charlton-White and Ben Madigan are the the two most high-profile players who will miss the fixture, but Chris Bell does return after being absent for the win over the Blues.

Changing lineups is nothing new for the Demons, with players moving in and out of the side for much of the season.

"If we can get a full team on the field then we're very confident we can beat any team in the league," coach Shayne Wilsesmith said after last weekend's win.

Despite the ever-changing nature of the lineup and the stop-start season the Dubbo side has had due to byes and forfeits from rivals, Wilesmith there is plenty of confidence in the team.

It will be needed on Saturday against an Outlaws coach fighting to keep its season alive.

"The way we're looking at it is it could be a season-defining game," Outlaws co-coach Steve Grundy said.

"To travel to Dubbo that late in the season is always going to be tough, historically it is a tough trip, but there is a lot of belief around out camp. We are sort of saying 'Who cares what has happened in the past? This is this Saturday.'

"You don't play footy just to win, but finals footy is nice at the end of the day. Bot teams are in the same spot and this realistically could decide who makes that top four.

"They are very tough at home, they play that ground very well, so we've got to be up for that game. There's no beating around the bush, it's a massive task, they're a great team, I just can't wait for it to be honest."

The Outlaws, who beat the Demons by two points when meeting earlier this season, will be boosted by some returning players.

As well as the Giants hosting the Tigers on Saturday, this round also sees the Parkes Panthers play host to the Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels.
